Solidarity with Ukraine
In light of the devastating events in Ukraine, SIT would like to strongly express that we are categorically against any war and the killing of humans by other humans for any reason. We stand alongside the global scientific and academic community against these acts done in Ukraine by the Russian military and Russian government.
SIT has been focused on monitoring and ensuring the safety of our people and community since the start of the conflict. Together with our partners, we are implementing initiatives to further humanitarian support, including providing multi-million-dollar financial support and actively working on opportunities to host Ukrainian refugees who have fled from this conflict on our campuses, as well as providing other humanitarian assistance to all those who have been affected.
We are working with Jacobs University Bremen to offer its university facilities to Ukrainian students with limited resources and professors over 55 (women) and 60 (men) years old from the regions of Ukraine most affected by war: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Mykolaiv. We are ready to arrange transportation, evacuation, accommodations and professional adaptations until Ukraine goes back to normal life.
The killing of people for any reason is wrong and unjustifiable. It is against our fundamental beliefs in the value of human life and value of knowledge. SIT was founded on the principle that all evil is due to insufficient knowledge, and it is with great optimism and hope for the future of our global community that we maintain our commitment to preserving and distributing knowledge through science.
